BearCan has already completed an internal simulation-stage testing program focused on the main structural threats a canister like this is expected to face. In our engineering workflow, we simulated localized bite and dent loading at approximately 530 kg, axial crush loading at approximately 530 kg, side-compression and ovalization behavior, claw-style tangential shear, and asymmetric seam-pry conditions. Those simulations were used to evaluate dent resistance, plastic-strain reduction, ovalization control, seam and retention behavior, and overall mass efficiency. Together, they gave us an internal benchmark for how the shell responds to concentrated attack, crush loading, and progressive damage.

The next step is formal third-party bear-resistant certification. That process is costly because it requires production-representative units, submission fees, shipping, outside testing, and possible iteration before final approval. Our plan is to use initial BearCan profits to fund that certification process directly.

    5300 N (540 kg) crush test to evaluate lateral compression and how well the canister resists losing its shape under side loading.
  • Claw Tangential Shear
    3000 N (306 kg) shear test to evaluate claw-style scraping and tangential force applied across the shell surface.

Seam Asymmetric Pry
1500 N (153 kg) pry test to evaluate pry-style loading at the seam or closure and measure resistance to forced opening or separation.
